24 weeks!

24 weeks, moving right along!

Nothing too eventful happening, which is good. According to Alpha Mom here's what's going on with baby this week:
  • Is just about a foot long now. I believe it is a tradition to consume a foot-long sub sandwich or hot dog in baby’s honor at this point. I also believe I just made that up.
  • Is still very skinny looking, with translucent skin, but this will all start changing soon.
  • Is officially at the edge of viability, and most hospitals would automatically attempt every possible life-saving option if baby were to be born now.
At our next appointment on the 7th I will undergo the glucose screening test to check for gestational diabetes. It’s done at a routine prenatal visit and involves chugging down an incredibly sickly-sweet beverage. (which I happen to like ☺) Then you wait an hour and give a blood sample. (A positive screen does not necessarily mean you have GD; it just means you have to get a whole OTHER, more-monitored test. Joy) But we're gonna hope for the best that I pass!

As for me, I'm definitely feeling more pregnant these days...lower back pain is a bitch! And not only do I have to get up to pee 83 times a night, but once I get back in bed it takes another 10 minutes to get comfortable....by that point it's time to get up to pee again. Vicious cycle. During my last pregnancy I had a great pregnancy pillow, the Snoogle, which Kevin ended up taking over after the baby was born and it has now gone missing...I'm sure it got thrown away (one of Kevin's favorite things to do to items that "don't have a place") I refuse to buy another one though...I just can't make myself spend another $50+ on a pillow that will probably have the same fate as its predecessor once it's purpose is served. Call me frugal. (Kevin will have to be my human body pillow; it's your fault dude, shoulda kept my Snoogle!)

Anywho, that's all for now peeps! Here are my 23 & 24 week pics, I'll TTYL!

Anatomy scan & hospital visit (x2)

This past week was pretty good. I had a get together with some of my surro sisters, we had our anatomy scan, and we went on the hospital Labor & Delivery tour!
Here's a pic from our gtg:
I'm so lucky to have met these ladies! We had a great time and I had a yummy Oreo shake!

Our Dr appt on Monday went well...aside from the fact that my IPs thought the appt was on the 16th! :-) The lady that wrote down our appt didn't have very good penmanship and it looked like she wrote Jan 16 on the reminder card. After I confirmed it was indeed on the 6th, my IPs made a mad dash for the doctor's office! (Only 30 mins til appt and they were an hour away!)
My Dr was gracious enough to give them some extra time to get there and they made it! :-)
Ms. B is measuring right on track and weighing about 1lb1oz. And she's quite flexible! She had her feet up by her head!

The hospital tour was after our appt and I think it made things a little more real for my IPs :) The nurse that did the tour was very sweet and I think IPs got all of their questions answered.

The next day I randomly woke up vomiting and wasn't able to keep anything down, even water. So I ended up going to the hospital to get checked out. They couldn't do much, but did monitor baby and contractions. (Thankfully, no contractions!) They gave me some anti-nausea meds and told me to stay hydrated and rest. It lasted about 2 days, but now I'm back to normal. :) Thank goodness it wasn't the flu...I think I had a stomach bug :\

So anywho, that's all that's happened this week. Kind of eventful; hopefully the next few weeks will be nice and quiet.

Until next time, here's my 22 week belly shot :) TTYL!
